Vow of Silence

Hello Readers,

Tomorrow (March 5Th) E7A& E7B and E8B will be participating in the vow of silence campaign.

All we have to do is not talk for 24 hours sight.. you can only talk if a teacher asks you a questions of if there is a emergency... So..
No talking,note writing,msning (IMing) or facebooking...(etc.)

The students are trying to help and think about the 121 million children around the world from the ages six to eleven that are unable to attend school.... Two-thirds of these students are girls..

While we are participating in the Vow of Silence there will be a pledge from for students to raise money for children in developing countries. Miss.Pollock asks you to bring it back by Friday,March 6Th 2009.

Our students are courage to bring white or a plain T-shirt/shirts to school, that will be used to write on in permanent marker to tell other students and teachers that they are participating in the Vow or Silence.

So we hope that you will participate... it will be lots of fun! so try it out and see how you like it !

In your post, suggest three more influential Canadian personalities that could be added to this site. Why did you choose these people? Which categories would they fit into? Link to information about each of them.

ANSWERS:

a) The one that would inspire me the most would be "we fought" because it's like we fought for our rights.

b) The person that I have picked is Gabrielle Roy.

A French Canadian who grew up in poverty in Manitoba.Canadian literature changed in 1945.Gabrielle Roy translated that experience and her observations as a Montreal journalist into vivid depictions of urban misery. I picked this lady because she seems really interring. Here is something that Gabrielle Roy:

"To write, it’s a need, it’s almost physical. You cannot avoid picking up the pen. Or touching the white page that is there, stretched out. Totally ready to receive . . . And you write precisely because you want to give, because you want to share with others. Because you have felt, or understood, the truth of certain human beings and you must say it."Gabrielle Roy, Chatelaine, April 1966.

c) The three more influential Canadian personalities that i have picked are:

1.Nelly Furtado

2Avril Lavigne

3.Shania Twain

Nelly Furtado

Nelly Furtado she grew up in Victoria, B.C. Born December 2, 1978,she is now 30 years old Recording her own songs in a portable tape recorder at the age of eight, and played ukulele and the trombone. QUESTION:

7. Go back to your post and answer the following question:d.) Which History-Maker did you have the most in common with? Were you able to figure it out from the clues given? What do you share with that person? What are some things that are different between you and that person?

ANSWER:

The person that I got Matched up with was Laura Se cord. The things we have in common are that we both have sisters. She became a hero of the war of 1812 when she risked her life to warm the British that American troops were on their way to attack. She travelled
for 32 kilometers though woods and swamps, behind enemy lines,to deliver her message.
Her birthday is on September 13Th 1775 in Great Barring ton,Massachusetts. She had three younger sisters. Her mother died when she was only eight years old. I don't think that i have a lot in common with her, and it was not easy to tell that I would have been matched up with her.

8. Think long and hard about this part and then post an answer to this question on your blog:e.) One hundred years from now, (in 2109!) imagine that students are learning about Canadian History Makers and they discover you. What will you be remembered for? How were you a Canadian History Maker? You are using your imagination, so think about some things that you would like to accomplish in your life and imagine that you have all the accomplishments of your life to look back on. Write a short profile of yourself, imagining the contributions you have made to the future of Canada. (Write this as though you've lived your whole life. You may have been a phenomenal athlete, the first black Prime Minister, cured cancer...use your imagination!)

Assignment #5

Hello Readers,

I am starting assignment #5 and is is my favourite assignment so far... You know who you think its really cold now.....how do you think people felt in the old times when there was no furnaces or any heaters?

Here are a few reasons:

1. Well there was a lot of freedom so they thought that they can do anything, and they decided to stay.

2.They use skin from animals for good use, for example tents, clothes, blankets, pillows. They use bones for tools and how the cook is with animal oil. They use all the parts of the animals because they don't want it to go to waste.

3.Obviously they managed to find food and and a good sturdy shelter to keep them going through the extremely cold winters in Canada.

It's really cold outside...
